Let's be honest: "working from home" was sold to us as a lifestyle upgrade.
Silence. Focus. Freedom.✨
What we actually got was a kitchen table cosplaying as a desk🪑, a chair clearly designed for someone with no spine, and a new coworker named Netflix📺 who never stops pitching ideas.
The commute used to be twenty minutes of traffic and regret.
Now it's four steps from bed to laptop 🛏️➡️💻, and somehow you still show up late to your 9am.
Nobody knows how. It's the great mystery of remote work, right up there with where the good pens go.
The dress code has evolved into a beautiful lie.
Blazer on top, crime scene on the bottom👔🩳.
You've become a professional from the collarbone up, and the rest of you has fully surrendered to elastic waistbands.
HR would like a word, but only from the shoulders up, please.
The distractions are relentless and shameless.
The fridge🧊calls your name every forty-five minutes like it's got something urgent to tell you.
It does not. It's still just cheese🧀.
The dog🐶has scheduled three emotional support meetings today, none of which were on your calendar.
And somehow the laundry only becomes fascinating exactly when a deadline is due.
The "quick meeting" that was supposed to take ten minutes now takes fifty⏳, because everyone is on mute, unmuting themselves to say "sorry, you go," and then muting again like a very polite hostage situation🔇.
And yet despite the chaos, the questionable snacking schedule🍿, and the pants that never leave the drawer, most of us wouldn't trade it back.
We just quietly negotiate with our own productivity like it's a moody toddler😤that occasionally needs a nap and a snack to function.
So here's to home office life: unbothered, slightly feral, and somehow still getting the job done.
Pants remain optional🩳. Sanity remains a work in progress🧠.
