It's finally Friday once more!!!😮‍💨

Today's discussion revolves around the cherished IT Support...

I am absolutely certain—no, I am a thousand per cent certain that you've encountered this classic IT help desk response: 'Have you tried turning it off and on again?' 

Of course, I have! If I hadn't, I wouldn't have reached out to you in the first place! 

The second most common reply is: 'You need to open a ticket, I apologise.

'Sure, I will, but can I ask one thing? Is there a Ticket Black Hole?' You submit a ticket, and it vanishes like a message in a bottle thrown into the sea.

Due to these frustrating situations, you often attempt to resolve them on your own, don't you? 

However, I can guarantee that the outcome is usually labelled as 'User Error'! 

It always seems to fall on you, even when the entire server is down across the company...😶

And what about the enigmatic maintenance? 

Out of nowhere, everything goes offline without any prior notice. Later, you receive a vague email stating, 'We conducted scheduled maintenance.' 

Great news for you, right? Just when you were in the middle of a crucial update, you have to start all over again!

And let's not forget the cryptic language they use. Are they from another planet?

They have a penchant for acronyms: 'Simply VPN into the RDP through the MFA-enabled VDI before syncing with SCCM.' 

Great, now I feel like crying.😓

Regardless, even the most straightforward task turns into an ordeal with them.

Want to access a folder? Install software? Request admin rights? Good luck with that. 

You'll have to get approvals from your manager, their manager, and maybe even the spirit of the company's founder.

Despite the challenges, IT support has its merits that deserve recognition: 

When security breaches, malware, or network outages occur, they are the first line of defence against disorder. 

Most importantly, they are available around the clock, even if it’s not always with enthusiasm. 

You can reach out via email or phone at 3 a.m., and there will always be someone ready to assist. 

They may not rest, but they are always ready to reboot.🙏
