Pay Attention to Which Advice You Follow!๐Ÿง˜❌

Good afternoon, readers!๐Ÿ‘‹

How are you doing today?

Everyone has advice for you. Everyone. Even your plumber.

Your colleague tells you to "follow your passion".

Your boss tells you to "be practical".

Your mom tells you to "be careful".

The LinkedIn guru tells you to "step out of your comfort zone every single day".

The 7am podcast tells you to "wake up at 5".

Your yoga teacher tells you to "surrender to the flow".

Your gym buddy tells you to "never skip a Monday".๐Ÿ“

Welcome to the era where anyone with an internet connection and an opinion feels fully entitled to rewrite your life.

Free of charge. Unsolicited. With a smile.

The problem isn't that the advice is wrong.

The problem is that it's all right, for someone, at some point, in some parallel universe.✨

Your friend who says "risk everything" probably has a trust fund you don't know about.

Your other friend who says "stay still and observe" probably stopped taking risks years ago and now dresses her fear up as wisdom.

Your uncle, who swears by "hard work and discipline", conveniently forgets he also got his first job through his father's connections.

And you, stuck in the middle, take notes.

You nod. You thank them. You screenshot the Instagram quote.

And then you walk away with your head spinning like a broken ceiling fan.๐ŸŒ€

Here's the uncomfortable truth nobody puts on a motivational poster: most people give you the advice they wished they'd received themselves.

Or worse, the advice they give themselves every single morning in the mirror without ever actually following it.

It's cheap therapy, and you're the involuntary patient sitting on the couch while they process their own unresolved issues through your life choices.

And let's talk about the wellness industrial complex for a second, shall we?๐Ÿง˜❌

The life coach with a six-week online course on "finding your purpose" who, three years ago, was selling insurance.

The bestselling book about simplicity comes in a deluxe hardcover edition with a ribbon bookmark and a gift box.

The irony is so thick you could spread it on toast.

So no, you're not "gathering different perspectives".

You're not "staying open-minded".

You're accumulating voices in your head that argue with each other at three in the morning while you stare at the ceiling, wondering why you feel so confused despite consuming so much wisdom.๐ŸŒ™

The right question isn't which advice is best

It's who's giving it, why, and what they get out of it, even if it's just feeling useful, superior, or a little less lost in their own confusion.

Advice is rarely pure generosity. It's also identity. It's also ego.

It's also "look how far I've come". And that's fine, just factor it in.

Follow people who have actually done what you want to do.

Not those who describe it beautifully.

Not those with the most aesthetic feed and the best lighting in their videos.

Not the ones who went viral once and built a personal brand around it.

Those who carry the real marks of having genuinely tried, including the failures, the pivots, the embarrassing detours they'd rather not mention in their TED talk.๐Ÿ”ฅ

Start filtering advice the way you filter spam.

Ask: Does this person know my situation, or are they projecting theirs onto mine?

Are they speaking from experience or from a book they read on a plane?

Do they have skin in the game, or are they safely watching from the sidelines with a podcast microphone?

And the next time someone leans across the table and says, "You know what you should do?", smile warmly, thank them sincerely, and ask yourself one simple question: but have they actually done it?

Deafening silence, usually.๐Ÿ˜ถ

The best advice, it turns out, is learning to choose whose advice is worth taking.

Nobody tells you that.

Probably because it would put a lot of people out of business.
