Redundancy✂️

Hello guys!

Ready for next week's long break?

Who's ready for the next job??

The unfortunate truth about redundancy is that it frequently affects people who have done nothing wrong.😥

Many hard-working and dedicated people lose their jobs not due to bad performance, but due to firm restructuring, automation, outsourcing, or financial difficulties.

It can feel terribly unfair, as if you've been let go for reasons beyond your control; even if it's entirely a business decision, getting laid off can feel like a personal rejection, as if you weren't worth keeping.

Years of loyalty can be erased in an instant through redundancy; people who've spent decades of their lives with a firm can be let go with little more than a severance letter...📨

Furthermore, it has an impact on more than simply income; it can rob people of regularity, purpose, social ties, and confidence, leaving them feeling lonely and ungrounded.

Worse, it can happen unexpectedly.

People can come to work one day and leave with a box, leaving no time to prepare emotionally or financially.

Companies lay off employees for a variety of reasons, and it is usually not due to individual performance (which is why they are even more BASTARDS, sorry for the French...), but rather because the function has become obsolete.

Here are the most popular reasons:

  • Cost-cutting
If a company is losing money or needs to increase profit margins, it may reduce its workforce to cut costs.

  • Restructuring or Reorganisation
Companies may restructure their structure to be more efficient, resulting in the merger or removal of overlapping jobs or divisions.

  • Automation and Technology
As technology advances, some functions or professions can be performed by software, computers, or AI, rendering some roles redundant. (Why don't they understand that people are the main resource of every company?!🤬)

  • Outsourcing
To save money, a firm may outsource specific tasks (such as customer service or information technology) to another country or provider.

  • Business closing or downsizing
If a corporation closes a branch, an office, or the entire business, all positions related to that activity may be eliminated. (It isn't so difficult guys, we are just numbers!🔢)

Finally, it all comes down to money, and more precisely, cost savings!

Yes, profits are all that companies care about.

Cost-cutting measures can result in job losses, reduced hours, or wage freezes, while top executives may still receive bonuses. (OBVIOUSLY)

However, when they will realise that cutting corners to save money occasionally results in lower product or service quality, which can harm customers and brand trust, and when funds are decreased, employees may feel overworked, unappreciated, and apprehensive about their own future, it will be too late...👋
