Health & Safety Trainings👷🏻♂️
Happy Friday, guys!
This week, I want to discuss Health and Safety Training.🔨🪓
Where do we even begin? Health and safety training is important, but it can be mind-numbingly boring.
Do you remember the mandatory courses you have to repeat every year, even if you spend 95% of your time just sitting in front of a computer?
Those training sessions that convey the same information in slightly different words each year?
You know, the ones that deliver life-saving reminders like, “Don’t run with scissors” or “If there’s a fire, leave the building.” Wow! Revolutionary, right?
And let's not forget the two-hour module dedicated to explaining how to lift a box.😑
Unfortunately, there’s no escaping these sessions!
Whether it's a video or a live instructor, there’s always that one voice that could put an espresso-fueled toddler to sleep.
And even if you finish early, you still have to sit through the entire time block because... "attendance."
Safety training often contains a lot of irrelevant information.
For example, they might spend ten minutes explaining how to operate a forklift when the closest interaction you'll have with machinery is a printer.
The cringe factor can be maxed out, especially when watching coworkers pretend to be electrocuted or trip over cables.
Well, I have some news for you: Trainers have gotten smarter!
Thanks to AI, if you don't keep your eyes on the video, it will pause, making it impossible to get through the material completely.😪
So, my friends, it's best to arm yourself with patience, grab a box of popcorn, and try to enjoy the entertaining aspects of these sessions, such as:
- "Don't touch exposed wires." Shocking (pun intended) advice.
- "Wash your hands after using the restroom." The bar is set pretty low.
Instead of being an informative training session, it often feels more like a Saturday night comedy show!📺
A little advice for the trainers: want to make your sessions more engaging?
Add memes, showcase real-world mistakes, include a bit of dark humor, or even turn it into a game.
But hey, if you do that, people might accidentally learn something while having fun.😝
To wrap up this week’s post, I have a question for you:
Which part of safety training do you dread the most?
I look forward to your comments!
